Arsenal won the Premier League in 2025-26, ending a 22-year wait. Now the question is which clubs will push them hardest in 2026-27. Manchester City are rebuilding under Enzo Maresca with Hugo Viana as sporting director after finishing below expectation. Liverpool under Slot are still strong. Chelsea have been spending heavily again. Tottenham under their new manager have improved. Newcastle are building carefully. Who is the realistic threat and what do they need to do differently?

Liverpool under Slot are the most credible challenger. The tactical evolution from Klopp to Slot has been managed well and the squad is strong enough that a full season without major injuries could see them push Arsenal all the way

Newcastle are the interesting wildcard. If they keep their key players and add in the right positions they could be the team that surprises in 2026-27 the way Arsenal surprised in 2022-23 and beyond

Manchester City rebuilding simultaneously at manager and sporting director level is a massive change for a club that has had the same philosophy for 15 years. Maresca will need at least one full season to impose his system before City should be considered genuine title challengers again

Chelsea's spending is enormous and their squad depth is elite but squad depth and title challenges are different things. They need tactical cohesion and a genuine killer instinct in close games that they have shown they can lack when the pressure is highest

Arsenal keeping their core together is the challenge. They will now be every club's primary transfer target. Saka, Martinelli, Odegaard, Saliba - all of them are wanted by the biggest clubs in Europe. Keeping them all happy and contracted is the real test of the summer
