Been working on a series about waiting rooms. This month's addition is about the pause before a goal is confirmed now that VAR exists. The metaphor got away from me but in a good direction

Trying to write about the World Cup and failing because sport poetry always comes out either sentimental or ironic and I want something else

He kept everything in folders.
Labels made from tape and pen.
The name of every photograph.
I learned to write from him, and then
the lesson became the whole of it
