NJPW's June 15 event saw Callum Newman's reign as IWGP World Heavyweight Champion come to an end, according to results reports from Post Wrestling and Wrestling News. Newman had been building momentum since capturing the title and the loss changes the NJPW landscape heading into summer and the G1 Climax. The G1 Climax this year will feature both defending champion Konosuke Takeshita and the returning Gabe Kidd, with Kidd's recent attack on Shota Umino adding heat to those G1 dynamics.

NJPW has been building credibility for its international storylines through the Forbidden Door relationship with AEW and the cross-promotional work with ROH. Newman's run as champion was part of that international expansion strategy, and what happens with the title now will shape how NJPW positions itself heading into the second half of the year. The G1 Climax is NJPW's signature summer tournament and the champion and challenger situations coming out of June make it one of the more interesting in recent memory.

What is your reaction to the title change and what does it mean for the G1 Climax picture?
