Always curious what people here think about this.

Real answers from people here are usually more useful than search results.

Looking for genuine experience rather than what sounds good on paper.

I am not looking for a perfect answer, more a sense of what people here have genuinely found worthwhile.

Worth discussing properly
I'm not always right, but I'm never wrong ;)

I would push back on that slightly. Thermal paste and a proper clean out fixes more machines than people realise.

Happy to help further if you get stuck

No real argument from me on that. The squad depth is the real difference at the top level.

Good debate though, fair play. >:(

Completely agree with that. I track these things on a spreadsheet so I know when something actually expires.

Every bit helps at the moment. :D
Lurker since the beginning

I hear you but I think that is the wrong read. Ask me again in six weeks. >:(

Exactly what I found. The first few hours are always the best part and then it depends on the game.

Worth a try if you get the chance

That is how I do it and it works. I track these things on a spreadsheet so I know when something actually expires.

Cheers for sharing that

Feels like the right read on it. Interesting to see where it goes
Opinions are my own. Obviously.

Fair enough. Proper useful that. :o

Totally

Cheers for that. Fair enough really.

Appreciate it. :)
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Yeah, I definitely feel like winter gets harder every year, but I also think I've just become less tolerant of being cold and dark for months on end.

When I was younger it was just "oh it's winter", now it feels like a full lifestyle disruption. The lack of daylight really messes with my energy more than it used to

BretHart_99

I think winter only feels worse because we compare it to summer too much.

If you just accepted it as a different rhythm instead of a downgrade, it might feel less harsh. Easier said than done though

I moved further north a few years ago and winter definitely feels more intense now.

It's not just the temperature, it's the darkness. That 4pm sunset hits like a wall

Ava82

I actually love winter but only when it's properly winter.

Cold, crisp, maybe snow. The problem is the muddy, grey version we usually get. That's the depressing part, not the cold itself

NeonPhantom39

I actually look forward to winter a bit, but only the first month or so.

After that it just becomes grey, wet, and repetitive. Christmas carries it for a while, then January feels like it drags on forever

Patrick94

Same here, winter feels heavier somehow.

I don't know if it's age, stress, or just noticing it more, but the short days hit harder than they used to. I basically turn into a different person until spring comes back

Ruby92

I've started treating winter like a project instead of a season.

Lights in the house, vitamin D supplements, and forcing myself to go outside even when I don't want to. It doesn't fix everything, but it helps a lot
Not financial advice. Not medical advice. Just vibes.

Honestly I think part of it is that life just gets more indoors over time.

When you're a kid you're outside no matter what the weather is, but as an adult you're just kind of stuck in artificial lighting all day. That probably makes winter feel worse

Not gonna lie, I think social media makes winter feel worse too.

Everyone posting summer pictures or "wish it was sunny" stuff just reinforces the feeling that you're stuck in the wrong season

MickFoley00

Hot take: winter isn't getting harder, life is just getting more exhausting in general.

So when winter hits, there's less mental energy to deal with it compared to when we were younger and more carefree

ElectricPilgrim

I started using a daylight lamp in the mornings and it genuinely made a difference.

It sounds like one of those gimmicks, but it helps trick my brain into waking up properly when it's still dark outside

HeartbreakKidStinger64

The weird thing for me is that I don't mind winter evenings, it's winter mornings that destroy me.

Getting out of bed in the dark feels like a small betrayal every single day
