Maybe I am missing something, but Benn has never really impressed me enough to make this feel like an obvious step forward. There have been flashes, and the power is clearly there, but flashes are not the same as putting together a complete performance against an experienced opponent.

Prograis is exactly the sort of opponent who can expose that. He has been around the block, knows how to manage distance and does not need many mistakes to make a fighter pay. If Benn starts chasing the stoppage because he wants to prove a point, that could actually make things easier for Prograis.

Would not be shocked if Benn produces his best performance yet, but I need to see it before I start buying into the hype.

The excitement around Benn still leaves me a bit cold. He has plenty of ability, but I have not seen enough from him to assume he is ready for someone with Prograis' experience and timing. Against a fighter like that, looking good when everything is going your way is not enough. You need to show you can adjust when the other man starts taking control of the rounds.

That is the bit I will be watching. If Prograis can make Benn reset repeatedly, force him to work behind the jab and punish him when he gets impatient, the hype could disappear fairly quickly. Benn can certainly win, but I am nowhere near as convinced as some people seem to be.

The argument for Benn is straightforward: youth, physical strength and the possibility that his pace and power overwhelm Prograis. I just do not think those advantages automatically translate into a win. Against an opponent with Prograis' experience, the little details matter, especially when the fight stops going according to plan.

For me, Benn needs to show better patience and ring craft rather than simply trying to hurt the other guy. If he spends the first few rounds loading up on every punch, Prograis should be able to read that and make him pay. A disciplined Benn would be much more interesting to watch than the version who seems determined to prove how hard he can hit.

So yes, Benn has a chance, but I am firmly in the "show me first" camp. The next big performance might change my mind, but so far the reputation is doing more work than the performances for me.
