Tottenham's 2026-27 Premier League season could not have started worse. Roberto De Zerbi's first competitive match in charge ended in a 3-0 defeat away at Brentford, a result that ties the club's joint heaviest opening day loss in Premier League history alongside a 2011-12 defeat to Manchester United.

Keane Lewis-Potter and Vitaly Janelt had Brentford two goals up inside 33 minutes, with the Spurs defense looking completely unsettled against a side known for exactly this kind of high intensity physical approach.
