Rico Verhoeven has said yes to a fight with Deontay Wilder. Boxing News 24 reports that the kickboxing star, now 37, has accepted an offer to face Wilder on 11 December. The fight could feature on the Tyson Fury against Anthony Joshua card in Cardiff

Verhoeven told talkSPORT he had been offered the fight and agreed to it, but would not say who made the offer. Wilder, now 40, has not responded publicly, and no terms have been agreed. So this is far from a done deal

Wilder had previously been linked with Jai Opetaia for the same card. Boxing News 24 suggests a Verhoeven fight would spare Opetaia a heavyweight detour before his cruiserweight showdown with David Benavidez. That would suit everyone involved

Verhoeven has boxing experience at the very top. He was stopped by Oleksandr Usyk but lasted into the eleventh round, which surprised plenty of people. He also has Peter Fury in his corner, which brings real boxing know how

Wilder's recent record is mixed. He won a twelve round split decision over Derek Chisora but has lost to Joseph Parker, Tyson Fury and Zhilei Zhang in recent years. Boxing News 24 is openly critical of the matchup, but it could still be entertaining

Would Verhoeven against Wilder interest you? And does Wilder still have the power to beat anyone?
