Luke Humphries has revealed that Gerwyn Price made a sweary remark during their World Grand Prix final, at a point when the match still looked to be under Price's control, SportBible reports. Price led 3-0 at the time and had averaged a record 132.62 in the first set. Humphries then fought back to win 6-4, averaging 106 and 107 in the last two sets

Humphries kept the details vague. "He probably regrets that now. I can't say on camera. It wasn't anything bad, but it was more sweary," he said. It sounds more like typical on stage banter than anything nasty, and Humphries seemed to treat it with good humour. The two have played many big matches against each other and appear to get on well

Humphries also praised the way Price handles defeat. "I think Gezzy's probably one of the best losers on tour now," he said, predicting that Price would "win something big soon." That is quite a change in reputation. In his early years on the tour, Price was often seen as a controversial figure, with heated clashes against several players

Price's own words after the match supported that view. "Gutted I lost another one but I'll move on," he said. "I don't care. I'm enjoying darts, I'm enjoying life." For a player who has now lost several major finals in a row, that is an impressively relaxed attitude. It may also be the mindset that eventually helps him win the next one

Is a bit of on stage needle good for darts? And has Price become one of the most likeable players on the tour?
