The simplest game on the board and weirdly the most revealing. Reply with the single word that the word directly above you sparks first, no thinking, no explaining, just the immediate association, and let the chain wander wherever the collective subconscious of the forum drags it

House rules to keep it pure, one word only so no sneaky phrases, do not explain your leap because the fun is watching strangers try to reverse engineer how we got from mountain to regret in four moves, and reply to the most recent word so the chain does not fork into chaos

The genuine delight of these threads is the occasional swerve that makes everyone stop, when someone follows bread with grief or ocean with telephone and the whole thread pauses to wonder what is going on in that person's head, the non sequiturs are the best part
