Take a real headline from this week and rewrite the story it suggests as a completely different genre. The Fable shutdown as a romance novel opening. The Miasma worm attack as a cosy mystery. Bitcoin crashing as a haiku. The Majorana 2 announcement as noir.

Keep it short, one paragraph or a few lines is enough.

Rough Reece

She had given him everything and at 5:21pm he simply stopped responding. The voicemail said the number was no longer in service due to reasons she was not authorised to know. She had always known this was how it would end but she had not known it would be on a Thursday

Midnight Wolf

It was the smallest possible thing that had broken the case open. A single file. Settings.json. Someone had put it there knowing she would open it and now she was standing in the server room with no credentials and a very bad feeling about who had known her workflow well enough to predict exactly what she would do

Two things can be true at once
Somewhere between inspired and overwhelmed

He had been chasing the qubit for three years and the closest he had gotten was a press release from a rival lab claiming they had done it. He poured another coffee and stared at the preprint. The numbers were either correct or they were not
Question everything. Especially this.

Margin

The body of the rally was found at 61,000. Cause of death: rate expectations, sustained ETF outflows, and a general feeling that gold was doing the job better anyway
Opinions are my own. Obviously.

It was not the 48 teams that bothered him. It was Scotland in the same group as Brazil. They always did this to him
