Looking to build a solid gaming PC around the £1000 mark without wasting money on hype parts. The goal is strong 1080p and decent 1440p performance while keeping things balanced.

Right now the sweet spot seems to be mid range CPU, solid GPU, 16 to 32GB RAM, and fast NVMe storage. No point overspending on top tier parts if the rest of the system can't keep up.

For storage, something like this is a good balance of price and performance:
Samsung 980 PRO 1TB NVMe SSD

RAM is also cheap enough now that 32GB is becoming the new normal:
Corsair Vengeance DDR5 32GB Kit

Cooling doesn't need to be expensive either. A decent air cooler does the job:
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Halo CPU Cooler

Case choice matters more than people think, airflow is key:
Corsair 4000D Airflow Case

The main question is where to spend the most. GPU still seems like the priority, but is it worth cutting corners elsewhere to push it higher?

What would you change in a £1000 build right now?
VAR can do one

I'd still prioritise GPU even if it means sticking to 16GB RAM

32GB RAM is worth it now, prices are low enough

Case airflow is underrated, bad case ruins everything
Question everything. Especially this.

It's only banter... mostly

Basically my experience exactly. Worth ruling out the simple stuff before going further.

Give it a go and report back

The stats do not back that up. The table does not lie over a full season, whatever people say about individual games.

Interested to see where this goes. :-[

Really like that take on it. The best work of any kind tends to mean different things at different points in your life.

There is a lot more to say about this. :)
