This debate never really ends. AIO liquid coolers look better and can offer strong performance, but air coolers are simpler and often more reliable.

A solid air cooler example:
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Halo CPU Cooler

Versus a typical AIO option:
Corsair iCUE H100i Elite Capellix Liquid Cooler

Air coolers have fewer points of failure and are easier to maintain. AIOs can offer better temps under load but come with pump noise and long term reliability concerns.

For most users, the difference in real world performance is not huge unless you are pushing high end CPUs.

So is it worth going AIO or is air cooling still the smarter choice?

Opinions are my own. Obviously.

Performance difference isn't big enough to justify the cost

It's not a bug, it's a feature

I am not sure that applies in every situation. Good to know, thanks

That is one way of looking at it. Thanks for that

I would probably do it differently. Good stuff
