Summer Game Fest, the PlayStation State of Play, and the Xbox Games Showcase have all happened in June. Gothic 1 Remake was one of the most anticipated, Solarpunk launched as a cozy eco-conscious crafting game with enormous wishlists, 33 Immortals went live as a large-scale cooperative roguelike, and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth arrived on Xbox Series X and Switch 2 for people who had been waiting.

The second half of 2026 has GTA 6 console launch in November as the unmissable calendar event. What did you pick up from the showcase announcements and what are you actually playing this week?

33 Immortals is the one I am most interested in. Large-scale cooperative roguelikes are a design space that does not get explored often enough and the 33-player ceiling is a genuinely interesting constraint

Solarpunk was wishlisted for months and launched well. The eco-conscious crafting sandbox genre has not had a flagship title and this seems like it might be it

Gothic 1 Remake was always going to be divisive between people who wanted a faithful recreation and people who wanted modernised mechanics. The combat feedback from previews was mixed

GTA 6 in November is the one that genuinely restructures the gaming calendar. Everything between now and then is what you play while you wait
It's not a bug, it's a feature
