The biggest change for me was that AI finally moved from a demo feature to something manufacturers are trying to build around. The agent style features on phones are interesting, but the real test is whether they save time after the novelty wears off.

Not sure every AI announcement deserves the hype. We have seen plenty of phones promise smarter assistants before, then people switch them off after a week. The useful stuff will be things like better call handling, translation, photo sorting and battery optimisation.

The earbuds angle caught my attention more than the phones. Real time translation in a tiny device is the sort of thing that could actually change travel and work. Whether it works in a noisy cafe is the million pound question though

There is a danger that every company now feels forced to add AI somewhere just to put it on the box. A good camera app with sensible AI improvements beats a pointless chatbot button added for marketing.

The interesting battle will be between companies that own the whole ecosystem and those trying to catch up. Apple, Google and Samsung have huge advantages because they already know how people use their devices.

Some of the AI features look useful for people who are not tech experts. If a phone can explain settings, organise photos and help with everyday tasks without making things complicated, that is a win.

The privacy side is where I am still cautious. A phone that understands more about your life can be incredibly helpful, but users need clear control over what is processed locally and what goes to the cloud.

The biggest improvement I want is not another assistant. Give me a phone that manages battery properly, blocks spam better and fixes the annoying little tasks I do every day. That would impress me more than a flashy presentation.

Some people are dismissing this too quickly. Voice assistants were limited years ago, but the technology keeps improving. The difference now is that models can understand context much better than the old command and response systems.

The new AI phones remind me a bit of early smartphones. At first everyone asked why they needed one, then suddenly apps and mobile internet became normal. The useful killer features might still be waiting to appear.
