Legacy Games, a casual games publisher founded in 1998, is closing its online store. VGC's Chris Scullion reports that the store opened in 2020 and sells more than 1,000 mostly casual titles. Those include hidden object games, match three puzzles, time management games and puzzle collections, often sold in bundles

The timeline is important for anyone who owns games there. The store closes to new purchases on 31 December 2026. Download codes from physical Legacy Games products must be redeemed before then, or they will stop working. After 28 February 2027, players will not be able to download games they have already bought

Games that are installed by that date will keep working. But once they are deleted, they cannot be downloaded again. The same rules apply to free Legacy Games titles claimed through Amazon Prime's monthly PC game offers, which will catch out a lot of people who forgot they had them

VGC points out that the store's homepage still promised games that were yours to keep forever when the article was written. Legacy Games' advice is that installing your games is how to keep them. As VGC notes, most people do not keep the same PC for life, so that is cold comfort

This is a timely reminder that digital purchases depend on the store staying open. If you have Legacy Games titles, it is worth downloading and backing up the installers before the deadline. Casual games often have long lives with loyal players, and losing access would be a shame

Do you have any games from Legacy Games or Amazon Prime? And should stores be required to keep purchases downloadable after closing?
