Thread discovery, notifications, search, mobile experience, posting tools. Not about what people talk about but about the infrastructure of how conversations happen here.

Open question for anyone who has thoughts on friction points or things they wish worked differently.

Search. The search function is my main frustration. I know conversations have happened here that I want to find and the search does not surface them reliably. Better full-text search would improve my experience significantly.

The mobile experience is functional but the text input on smaller screens is slightly awkward for longer posts. Nothing that cannot be worked around but friction I notice.

I would love a way to save or bookmark threads to come back to. The ones I remember and want to find again versus the ones I have to search for are the same threads and the searching is inefficient.

Notifications for replies to your posts are useful. Notifications for everything else are not. The granularity of notification controls could be better.

The quote function when replying is good. The threading beyond two levels gets slightly hard to follow visually. Not a major problem but a polish issue.

I would change nothing. The slight friction of the mechanics is part of what makes the quality of discussion different from slicker platforms. The people who are here are here because they chose to be here rather than ending up here accidentally.

Thread discovery - its now shows recent posts to logged out users on phone.
Do you mean put the /recent link at the top?

Notifications we have Modern phone notifications working on this forum. Either in browser or phone
mobile experience - we have a mobile theme with dark mode. just try it. its as advanced as mobile app these days.

posting tools - we need to update the window. we are working on upgrading the default smf one.

The forum is probably the most advanced smf forum out there
I'm not always right, but I'm never wrong ;)

The profile system is minimal to the point of anonymity which I actually appreciate. I do not want to know much about the people I talk to here. The ideas should stand independently of the person.
