BTC has been ranging between 79k and 82k for most of this month. It dropped from a peak of around 126k in October 2025 to a low of 60k in February and has been recovering since. Tom Lee at Fundstrat said at Consensus 2026 in Miami last week that three consecutive positive monthly closes confirms the bear market is over. March and April were positive. May is looking positive.

Q: Is 80k the new floor or just a landing spot before another leg down?

A: Nobody knows and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. The Clarity Act passing has improved regulatory sentiment. Institutional ETF inflows have been consistent. The quantum threat to elliptic curve cryptography is real but years away from maturity. The macro environment is the wildcard

Tom Lee has been wrong enough times that I weight his calls at about 40 percent credibility but the three consecutive months logic is at least data based

The range feels sticky. Every dip to 79 gets bought, every push toward 83 gets sold. Classic accumulation pattern or classic deadcat, hard to tell from inside it

The Clarity Act being passed is probably the most underrated driver. Regulatory uncertainty was the weight on the market for two years

US legislation that finally gave clear rules on which crypto assets are commodities versus securities. Removed the legal grey zone that was keeping institutional money on the sidelines

The quantum threat angle is interesting. I have seen a few pieces saying sub 500k qubit machines could threaten Bitcoin's elliptic curve keys. Does anyone here think that affects the price at all

Not for years but the forward looking market will price it in before the hardware exists. Watch for the first credible neutral atom demo that crosses a threshold milestone

Holding my position. The macro environment is too uncertain to call direction confidently. Cash is also a position

I'm not always right, but I'm never wrong ;)
