With AEW Forbidden Door bringing CMLL talent onto a major card alongside NJPW, AEW and Stardom, it is worth having the conversation about what actually distinguishes the different styles and what gets lost or gained in translation when wrestlers from different traditions work together.

Lucha Libre has a completely different relationship with the ropes, a different approach to selling, a different philosophy about masks and identity. NJPW strong style is something else again. The melting pot matches at Forbidden Door are interesting precisely because the styles do not always blend smoothly.

What do you think each style brings that the others do not, and which cross-style matches have worked best for you?
