Just a general one.

Real answers from people here are usually more useful than search results.

Part of the reason I asked is because I would rather avoid wasting time going down the wrong route. :P

Curious how others are approaching it

Keeping the bedroom slightly cooler is probably one of the most underrated ones. Everyone talks about pillows and mattresses, but a warm room can ruin a good night's sleep. Opening a window for a bit before bed makes a surprising difference :)

A boring routine works better than people expect. Same time, same steps, same order. Brush teeth, dim lights, read a few pages, then sleep. The brain starts recognising the pattern.

The one that helped me most was moving my phone charger away from the bed. Sounds simple, but not having it within arm's reach stopped the random midnight scrolling.

Getting morning sunlight deserves more attention. A few minutes outside after waking up helps set your body clock, and it seems to make falling asleep later much easier.

Not eating a huge meal right before bed made a bigger difference than any fancy sleep product I tried. Late night snacks are tempting, but my sleep quality definitely noticed.

People underestimate how much a messy room affects rest. Spending five minutes tidying before bed makes the next morning feel less chaotic too.

A good tip is having a shutdown routine for your brain. Writing down tomorrow's tasks stops the mental loop of remembering everything while lying there.

A lot of sleep advice focuses on gadgets, but the basics still win. Consistent routine, comfortable environment, and giving your brain time to slow down are hard to beat.
I'm not always right, but I'm never wrong ;)

The biggest upgrade was treating sleep like an appointment instead of something that happens after everything else is done. If it is always the leftover time, it usually suffers.

Breathing exercises get dismissed because they sound too simple, but slowing everything down for a few minutes can help when your mind is racing.

Exercise timing is interesting. A hard workout right before bed keeps some people awake, but regular daytime movement seems to improve sleep massively.

A little fresh air before bed is another good one. Even opening the window for ten minutes can make the room feel completely different.

EventHorizon27

The weirdest sleep improvement was making my bedroom boring. No work stuff, no bright decorations, no distractions. It feels more like a place to rest now.

A warm shower before bed works well for me. Not because it knocks me out instantly, but because it becomes a signal that the day is finished.

Pixel Jay

The underrated one for me is not chasing perfect sleep. Some nights are bad and stressing about it just makes things worse. Getting back into the routine matters more than one rough night.

The best advice I ignored for years was keeping the same wake-up time. Even after a late night, getting up roughly the same time fixed my schedule faster than sleeping in.

One small change was switching from bright overhead lights to lamps in the evening. It sounds like a tiny thing, but the whole house feels like it is winding down.

Reading an actual book instead of browsing on a phone has been my favourite change. The hardest part is resisting the urge to check one last notification ;D

Everyone mentions avoiding screens, but the content matters too. Watching something stressful before bed is probably not helping, even if the brightness is turned down.
