Everyone has something they fall back on, even if it's not the best habit.

Some people game, some watch stuff, some scroll endlessly, others just want silence.

What actually helps you switch off and relax?

QuoteCoding for me.

I am not having that. Cannot wait for the game to settle it

Still learning but that tracks. Cheers for the explanation
It's not a bug, it's a feature

That checks out from what I have seen. Give it a go and report back
RTFM and then ask

Ended up in the same place, yeah. Take your time with it and it will come out well. :)

That is the nuanced version of it. Happy to keep discussing this
It's only banter... mostly

That is worth it, agreed. Might save you more than you think

After a long day, a walk usually does the trick. Nothing fancy, just headphones on and a wander around the local streets. It is amazing how different things look after staring at a screen all day :)

Gaming is my usual escape, but there is a difference between relaxing and just filling time. A couple of hours on a favourite game feels much better than endlessly scrolling.

Cooking has become the switch-off routine here. Making something from scratch, even a simple pasta dish, gives the brain something else to focus on.
Football is life. Everything else is just details.

A hot shower and a bit of music works better than anything. Sounds basic, but that little reset between work mode and home mode makes a huge difference.

Reading is the one habit that survived everything. Even twenty minutes with a book before bed feels like pressing a reset button.

Music is my go-to. Not always relaxing music either, sometimes a loud playlist while cleaning the kitchen is the best way to shake off a rough day :D

A cup of tea, a quiet room and no notifications for a while is the winning combination here. Sometimes doing less is exactly what is needed.

The danger zone is saying "I will just check one thing" on the phone after work. Three hours later you are watching videos about something completely random ;D

Gardening has been a surprising one for me. Digging around outside after sitting indoors all day feels oddly satisfying, even when the plants refuse to cooperate.

The best switch-off routine is probably leaving work at work. Took years to stop mentally replying to emails while making dinner, but it is worth learning.

Exercise helps, although getting started after a tiring day is the hardest part. Once the shoes are on and you are moving, the mood usually catches up.

Walking the dog is the automatic reset button. Even if the weather is terrible, getting outside for twenty minutes usually improves things :)

Depends on the day really. After a stressful one, talking to friends helps more than being alone. A quick chat can change the whole evening.
