The big upgrade question really comes down to what problem you are trying to solve. A £10 bottle that you actually remember to take everywhere can beat a fancy £50 one that sits in a cupboard looking impressive. My old bottle had one job and it failed because the lid leaked all over my bag twice. That was the upgrade reason right there

The newer insulated bottles are great if you drink slowly through the day because the water is still cold hours later. But if your current one is not leaking and does the job, there is no need to replace it just because a new model has appeared.

Moved from a basic plastic bottle to a stainless steel insulated one last year and the difference was bigger than expected. Not because the water tasted magical or anything, but because it stopped becoming a warm little science experiment by lunchtime

The part people forget is the lid design. A good bottle with a rubbish cap is still annoying. Check reviews for cleaning, spare parts and whether the mouthpiece collects bits of dust from your bag. The boring details are usually what decide if you still love it six months later.
