Endings are hard. A TV series can spend years building characters and storylines, only for the final episode to decide how it is remembered forever. Some shows stick the landing perfectly and leave viewers satisfied, while others manage to undo years of goodwill in a single hour. Few things divide fans more

There are some famous examples on both sides. Breaking Bad, Six Feet Under and Blackadder Goes Forth are often praised for their endings. The Sopranos is still debated decades later, with fans arguing over what the final scene meant. On the other hand, Game of Thrones, Dexter and How I Met Your Mother are regularly listed among the most disappointing finales. Fans still argue about some of these years later

Sometimes a final episode works because it feels earned, wrapping up character arcs in a way that makes sense. Sometimes it fails because it rushes, ignores what came before or tries too hard to surprise. Shows that were cancelled without warning often never got an ending at all, which can be just as frustrating

British TV has its own share of great and terrible endings. Only Fools and Horses had several, some better than others. Line of Duty's final episode divided fans, while The Office managed a lovely send off with its Christmas specials

Which show had the best final episode for you, and which one ruined everything? Please keep spoilers light for anything recent

The Office Christmas specials were perfect. Tim and Dawn finally getting together after everything was beautifully done

Gervais knew when to stop. David Brent finally getting a laugh at the end was lovely too
