The Rings of Power season 3 trailer drops, and Sauron is finally forging the One Ring

[Adam75]

Prime Video revealed the first teaser trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 3 during its San Diego Comic-Con panel, giving fans their first look at Sauron crafting the One Ring itself. The new season jumps forward several years from the events of season 2 and takes place at the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, as the Dark Lord seeks to forge the ring that will give him the power to bind all peoples to his will and rule all of Middle-earth

The trailer shows Middle-earth in open war, with Galadriel, played by Morfydd Clark, leading elven forces against Sauron, played by Charlie Vickers. Simon Pegg has joined the cast to voice the Balrog, the hulking magma monster helping forge the One Ring, and a featurette shown to Comic-Con attendees also introduced the Nazgnagol, confirmed to be Second Age incarnations of the Nazgul who once were human before being corrupted by Sauron's power

Season 3 will keep its eight episode format but roll out on a condensed schedule, with the first four episodes premiering November 11, followed by two more on November 18 and the final two closing out the season shortly after. Showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay return alongside a cast that includes Robert Aramayo, Ismael Cruz Cordova and Charles Edwards

Simon Pegg voicing the Balrog is such a fun bit of casting, did not expect that at all

[Hare]

The tone genuinely does look darker than the first two seasons based on this trailer, glad to see the show leaning into that as the war escalates

[Harper84]

Nazgnagol being confirmed as Second Age proto-Nazgul is a great bit of lore building, curious how much screen time they actually get this season

[StarLord67]

Sauron finally forging the One Ring on screen feels like the moment this whole show has been building toward since episode one

[Daniel85]

The condensed three week release schedule is an interesting middle ground between a full weekly drop and a single all at once premiere

[Wendy88]

This is the point in the timeline where the stakes finally match the mythology everyone already knows from the original trilogy, exciting to see it dramatized properly

[Sorted Echo]

November can't come soon enough, this looks like the most visually ambitious season yet based on the footage alone

[Taker04]

Great turnout of returning cast alongside the new additions, seems like the show is building toward a proper climax rather than just treading water

[Rob]

Curious how the show handles the time jump narratively, several years is a lot of ground to cover in the opening episodes

[HHH_Gold]

Galadriel leading forces directly against Sauron should make for the show's biggest scale battles yet if the trailer footage is any indication
