I watched a couple of recent TV trailers and felt like I had been shown the entire first half of the season. The problem is not just spoilers, it is that the trailer tells you exactly how to feel before the show has a chance to do it properly.

A good trailer should be a doorway, not a full guided tour. It should make you curious enough to start episode one without making episode one feel familiar.

Do you still watch trailers for shows you already plan to watch, or do you avoid them now?

Zero-Point

I avoid trailers for shows I already know I want to watch. I would rather go in fresh

Trailers are too long now. Thirty seconds is usually enough for me

I do not mind plot setup, but I hate when trailers show major emotional scenes out of context

Streaming trailers are especially bad for this. They often feel desperate to prove the show has twists

I still watch them because I enjoy the hype, but I agree they often show far too much
