Are solar panels actually worth it for the UK with rubbish sunlight?

Given how the weather is in the UK, are solar panels actually worth installing?

Do they generate enough energy to justify the cost?

You won't get the same output as sunnier countries, but you can still offset a decent amount of electricity.

The sunlight argument gets raised a lot, but solar panels do not need Mediterranean weather. They still generate electricity on cloudy days, just less of it. The UK is not exactly a solar desert, despite what the grey skies would have us believe
