Scotland lost 3-0 to Brazil in Miami and now face the agonising reality of waiting to discover if their goal difference is good enough to sneak through as one of the best eight third-placed teams. Vinicius Junior was simply unplayable. He had the ball in the net three times in the first half with VAR chalking one of them off for a foul in the build-up. His actual goals came from punishing McKenna's mistake inside seven minutes and a brilliant header just before the break. Matheus Cunha added a third after Bruno Guimaraes opened the angle. Scotland's xG was 1.13 compared to Brazil's 4.46 which tells you everything about the balance of the match. McTominay almost pulled one back late on but Alisson made himself big. Scotland's tournament record reads: beat Haiti, lost to Morocco, lost to Brazil. Three points. Goal difference of minus two. Whether that's enough depends on results in every other group finishing with a third-placed team. The wait is brutal.
