One day after Messi broke the all-time World Cup scoring record, Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player in history to score at six World Cups. Portugal beat Uzbekistan 5-0 in Houston and Ronaldo scored twice before halftime. His first goal came in the sixth minute making him the first man ever to score at six consecutive World Cup tournaments stretching from 2006 to 2026. At 41 years and 138 days old he is now the second oldest player to score at a World Cup behind only Roger Milla of Cameroon in 1994. He is also the oldest player to score two goals in a single World Cup match. He passed Eusebio as Portugal's all-time leading World Cup scorer with 10 goals. Ronaldo had been widely criticised after Portugal's 1-1 draw with DR Congo with calls for Roberto Martinez to drop him. Martinez stuck with him. Portugal won 5-0. The Ronaldo vs Messi story just added another chapter.

One day after Messi breaks the all-time scoring record Ronaldo becomes first to score at six World Cups. The timing is genuinely absurd
