I can see arguments both ways which is usually a good sign.

The stats back one argument but the eye test says something different.

If it matters, I am not in a rush on this - I would rather get it right than get it done quickly.

Club football has definitely taken over a lot of the attention because people follow their teams every single week. You build habits around a club, know the players, the rivalries, and the storylines.

That said, nothing really matches a major international tournament. A random Tuesday night league game cannot recreate an entire country stopping to watch a semi-final.

Think the appeal has changed rather than disappeared. Younger fans especially seem more attached to clubs because they watch those players constantly on social media and in weekly competitions.

International football still has that special feeling though. A player can have an average club season and become a national hero with one big tournament moment.

Would disagree slightly with the idea that club football has replaced internationals. The Champions League might be amazing, but it does not have the same feeling as a nation coming together.

A club can buy a superstar. A country has to work with whoever it produces, and that makes the stories more interesting.
