The confirmation of Joshua-Fury has immediately been followed by a promotional dispute that threatens to complicate the path to November. Dana White announced in a Kick livestream that Zuffa Boxing would be promoting the fight, citing his relationship with Saudi promoter Turki Alalshikh and the fighters' management. Eddie Hearn hit back immediately and publicly, stating that the contract clearly forbids Dana White, Zuffa Boxing or anyone associated with them from being the lead promoters of this event. Hearn said Turki could only involve Dana if Matchroom and Queensberry agreed, and made clear they do not agree.

The dispute matters because it is not simply promotional ego. The promotional entity controls broadcast negotiations, site fees, ticket revenue splits and the overall commercial structure of an event expected to generate revenues north of 500 million dollars. Hearn has insisted the fight must take place in the UK, citing both the contract language and the commercial logic of two British heavyweights. Turki Alalshikh, who is funding the event and whose relationship with both camps made the deal possible, has not definitively resolved the question publicly, though his announcement post titled to my friends in Great Britain appeared to align with UK staging.

Fury's interim fight on August 1 in Dublin against a yet-to-be-named opponent adds a further variable. If Fury performs poorly or suffers any injury the November timeline is under immediate pressure. The history of this fight being announced and then collapsing over money, venue and promotional disputes is long and both fighters' fans have been burned by premature celebrations before.
