Jaron Boots Ennis and Xander Zayas meet tonight at Barclays Center in Brooklyn in a junior middleweight unification fight that the boxing world has been anticipating for months. Zayas, 23, holds the WBA and WBO titles and is undefeated in 23 fights since turning pro in 2019. He is the youngest unified ruler in the sport and the first Puerto Rican to unify at the 154lb weight. Ennis, 28, was the dominant unified welterweight champion who crushed Eimantas Stanionis in April 2025 before moving up to 154lbs and making it clear he intends to become a two-weight world champion. This is only his second fight at junior middleweight.

The styles promise fireworks. Ennis is widely considered one of the most technically gifted and athletically explosive fighters in the sport, with an extraordinary combination speed and pressure that has led promoter Eddie Hearn to say he can become the best fighter in the world. Zayas is more composed, technically refined and showed tremendous heart to beat Abass Baraou via split decision to unify in January. The question is whether Zayas can handle Ennis's speed and power moving up in weight, and whether Ennis is truly settled enough at 154lbs after just one tune-up fight in the weight class. The main event is expected around 10:45pm ET on DAZN.

On the undercard, British 2020 Olympic silver medallist Ben Whittaker makes his American debut against Richard Rivera for the WBC Silver light heavyweight title. This is a significant moment for Whittaker, who has been building toward world title contention but has faced criticism for carefully selected opposition. A big performance in New York changes the narrative significantly.
