Not bad at all. The problem with most money saving advice is it assumes you have the time to do it all.

I would probably do it differently. That is the thing isn't it.

It is worth asking what someone would do differently rather than what they would recommend, that is usually more useful.

Always surprised that Talk Talk's "Spirit of Eden" doesn't come up more often. It wasn't a huge commercial smash, but every time I revisit it I notice another little detail tucked away in the mix.

Feels more like an experience than a collection of songs.

People tend to remember Tears for Fears for the big singles, but "The Seeds of Love" deserves far more appreciation.

It took ages to make and you can hear that care in the arrangements. It still sounds rich today without feeling dated .

Never seems to get the recognition it deserves, but "Mingus Ah Um" by Charles Mingus is one of those albums that rewards repeat listens.

Bit of an older choice, but "Skylarking" by XTC has quietly become one of my favourites.

Great melodies, clever lyrics and not a wasted track. Strange how it never seems to get mentioned outside music circles.

Most people know Jeff Buckley because of "Hallelujah", but the whole "Grace" album deserves the attention.

It's one of those records where the famous song isn't even necessarily the best one.

Can't help feeling that "New Adventures in Hi-Fi" by R.E.M. gets overshadowed by the albums that came before it.

It has a road-trip atmosphere that's completely its own, and some of the band's strongest songwriting ended up on there.

People often dismiss Supertramp as just a singles band, but "Crime of the Century" is fantastic all the way through.

The production alone is worth hearing on a decent set of speakers.

Funny how an album can quietly become underrated simply because the artist had an even bigger release.

That's how I see "The Bends" by Radiohead now. Everyone jumps straight to "OK Computer", but this one still holds up brilliantly.

Sometimes being underrated just means arriving at the wrong time.

"Hail to the Thief" by Radiohead got caught between two hugely influential albums, but taken on its own it's packed with excellent songs.

Going a bit left field with "A Grand Don't Come for Free" by The Streets.

The storytelling across the whole album makes it feel like you're following someone's week unravel in real time. Very few albums commit to a concept that well.

One that rarely gets mentioned is "Ocean Rain" by Echo & the Bunnymen.

There's something cinematic about it from start to finish. Put it on with headphones and it almost feels like a film soundtrack without the film.

Would probably nominate "Mezzanine" by Massive Attack.

It gets plenty of respect from fans, yet outside that circle it still feels oddly overlooked considering how influential its sound turned out to be.
