Monthly thread for what has actually been on your speakers or headphones. Not the best thing you have ever heard, not a performance, just what you have genuinely been listening to a lot in the last few weeks.

Could be something brand new, could be something you have known for years but has re-entered rotation for a reason you cannot fully explain. The best of these threads tend to have a mix of new discoveries and surprising rediscoveries.

Album, track, artist, playlist, live recording, anything. What is it?

An album I bought on vinyl about four years ago and played about twice has been in constant rotation this month. No idea what changed. Sometimes music just becomes available to you when it was not before.

Daresh84

A recording of a live concert from the 80s that I found completely by accident. The sound quality is not great but the performance is extraordinary and there is something about the specific imperfection of it that I cannot get enough of.

SchrodingersCat55

Something from a genre I would not normally listen to that someone in this community recommended. Still not sure I understand it but I keep returning to it which seems like the right kind of not understanding.

The same three songs on repeat for about a week. This is either a sign that something is resolving in my emotional processing or that I need to vary my inputs. Possibly both.

TristanFenwick

A composer I had not heard of before whose back catalogue I have been working through systematically. The pleasure of having a large body of unknown work to explore is one of the specific joys of finding someone new late.

PlanckLimit81

Completely unironic pop music that I would have been embarrassed to admit to in other contexts. Summer does things to your taste. This is fine.

Ryan84

A playlist someone made for a specific mood that fits a specific time of day better than almost anything else I have ever listened to. The curation instinct of some people is genuinely a talent.

Nothing from the last five years, all older material, all artists I have loved for a long time. Sometimes what you need is the music that has already proven itself. Not searching this month.
