The concert film from Billie Eilish's Hit Me Hard and Soft tour premiered on April 28 at UK screenings before dropping on YouTube and streaming. Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi turned up to the premiere, which is a detail. The tour was praised extensively as one of the best live productions of 2025 and the film captures why.

Hit Me Hard and Soft the album came out in 2024 and was critically acclaimed across the board. The live show was built around it in a way that few pop concerts attempt. Whether the film does justice to being there is the question the replies are for.

Opinions are my own. Obviously.

The production design of this tour was unlike anything else on the road in 2025. The film captures most of it but the immersive audio in the venues was impossible to replicate
The truth is usually more complicated than the headline

Highland Builder

Hit Me Hard and Soft as an album rewards this kind of dedicated live treatment. Every song is built for atmosphere and the show delivered on that
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Billie is one of very few artists at this level where the live show enhances the recorded material rather than just replicating it

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia turning up to the premiere is such a specific and unexpected detail
Real till I die.

The film is good but concert films are always a compromise between the experience and the documentation. Worth watching for the performance quality alone

BigDog

Anyone who saw this tour live will have moments the film captures perfectly and moments it cannot. The crowd energy in particular is flattened in any recording

This film is the right way to release a concert document. YouTube rather than a streaming exclusive means the largest possible audience gets access to it

The fact that she performed the whole album in order was a brave call that paid off. The arc of the show is genuinely satisfying
Question everything. Especially this.

FINNEAS producing her material and being on stage with her creates a dynamic that very few sibling creative partnerships have achieved at this scale
