Coming from an iPhone 13, the 17 generation looks much more tempting than it does from a 16. That seems obvious, but upgrade discussions often flatten everything into "is the new phone worth it?" when the answer depends almost entirely on what is sitting in your hand right now

Battery degradation is another huge factor. My old phone was technically fine until I started noticing that a normal day involved carrying a power bank. Once charging becomes part of your daily routine, you start appreciating battery improvements very quickly

The camera jump can also be more noticeable across several generations. You do not necessarily need to be a photographer. Family photos, pets, holidays and random pictures in terrible lighting are where improvements become useful without you thinking about them. That is a much stronger argument than chasing benchmark numbers
