Every enthusiast has one, the piece of equipment bought at peak excitement for a hobby that then quietly stalled, sitting untouched in a cupboard or garage as a small monument to a version of yourself that meant well. The pattern worth examining honestly, was the equipment itself the problem, wrong choice, too advanced too soon, or was the hobby simply never going to stick regardless of what you bought, because those are two very different lessons and conflating them leads to buying the wrong replacement gear for the next enthusiasm as well
