Keeps coming up and I wanted to get some actual opinions.

Curious whether people here have had similar experiences.

What do you reckon?

Same here really. Same here really.

Useful to know

That lines up with what I found. Cheers

For some reason that framing works well. Really good thread this
RTFM and then ask

Spot on. You are not wrong.

I find threads like this more useful than any article because people are answering from their actual situation rather than a hypothetical one.

Ha, fair enough

Gaming was a big one for me. Spent years following every announcement, watching trailers frame by frame and reading every rumour going.

Then one day I realised I was spending more time discussing games than actually playing them. Taking a step back made the hobby enjoyable again. :)

Football is probably my answer. Used to know every transfer rumour and watch every match possible.

Life just got busier and suddenly I was checking scores once a week instead of planning my weekend around games. Still enjoy it, just at a different level now.

There are a few music artists I stopped following closely. Not because they got worse, but because keeping up with every release started feeling like homework.

Sometimes it is nice to just enjoy the songs you already like instead of chasing every update.

Technology news was the one for me. Years ago I followed every phone launch and argued about tiny specification differences.

Eventually it became obvious that most yearly upgrades were small improvements dressed up as huge breakthroughs. ::)

Celebrity news is something that completely disappeared from my radar.

Used to know who was dating who and what happened on every reality show. Now I barely recognise half the names people mention. Probably a good thing. ;D

A hobby does not always need to be abandoned because you dislike it. Sometimes you simply move into a different phase of life.

The things that mattered at 20 might not fit around work, family or other interests later on.
Measure twice, post once

Competitive gaming was mine. Watching tournaments was exciting for years, but eventually it became more stressful than entertaining.

There is something strange about getting nervous watching someone else play a game. :P
Somewhere between a breakthrough & a bad dataset

Following every bit of space news used to be a huge interest. Still interested, but I no longer read every article about every launch.

The excitement is still there, just without needing a full investigation every time a rocket moves.

A lot of people seem to confuse losing interest with failing. Sometimes your attention just naturally moves somewhere else.

There is nothing wrong with enjoying something for a few years and then letting it go.

CaptainCipher10

Formula One dropped off my list. Loved it for ages, knew all the teams and drivers.

Then the amount of debate around every tiny incident started becoming more tiring than the racing itself. Still watch the occasional big event though.

Social media trends are something I stopped following. Trying to understand every new meme or platform felt like chasing a train that never stops.

By the time you understand one thing, everyone has moved on to another. :D

Reading every news story about my favourite TV shows was a habit I left behind.

Spoilers, theories and speculation sometimes became more entertaining than the actual show, which was a little backwards.
It's not a bug, it's a feature

Books were the surprising one. Used to follow every new release and author interview.

Now I just pick up something that sounds interesting and ignore the hype cycle. It has made reading feel relaxing again.
Not financial advice. Not medical advice. Just vibes.

Fitness trends are my answer. Went through the phase of researching every new routine and miracle method.

Eventually realised the boring basics worked better than most of the complicated advice online.

There was a time when I followed every car release and review. Now I still like cars, but I no longer need to know every horsepower figure for every new model.

The obsession faded into a casual interest and that is probably healthier.

Brandon80

For me it was keeping up with online creators. The first few years were fun, but eventually it felt like having hundreds of imaginary friends needing updates every day.

A smaller number of interests is much easier to enjoy.

Bussin

Gaming hardware used to consume my attention. New graphics cards, benchmarks and rumours were impossible to ignore.

Then I upgraded once and realised my current setup was perfectly fine. Sometimes the best upgrade is not buying anything. :)
