Something else worth mentioning is how many free trials quietly become paid subscriptions if you forget about them.

That business model clearly works because companies keep using it, but it has made me much more cautious about signing up in the first place. ;)

The strange part is that many people have become so used to subscriptions that they barely question them anymore.

Maybe the answer is just being more selective. Keep the ones that improve your life, cancel the rest, and ignore the fear of missing out. Your bank account will probably thank you. :)

Sometimes it feels like companies looked at successful streaming platforms and thought, "We should do that too," without asking whether their product actually fits the model.

A calculator app asking for a yearly subscription is usually enough to make me uninstall it on the spot. :D

There are still subscriptions that provide great value. Music streaming alone gives access to more albums than I could ever buy individually.

The issue is not subscriptions themselves. It is the expectation that every product, no matter how simple, deserves a monthly fee.

My biggest complaint is the lack of flexibility. Some services only offer monthly plans when I might only need them for a week.

A pay-as-you-go option would probably win me over far more often than another recurring payment.
