Gaming nostalgia is one thing. Games that genuinely hold up on their own merits without any nostalgia padding are something different. Some games from a decade or more ago play as well today as they did on release. The design was so solid that nothing about them feels dated. Others are beloved memories that are painful to revisit because the controls or mechanics aged badly.
