We are at the midpoint of the year and the release calendar for the second half is becoming clearer. GTA 6 on console in November is the unmissable event for most people, but there is a lot between now and then.

Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol 2 arrives in August, Star Wars Zero Company in August, Plague Tale Legacy Resonance in August. The Switch 2 has a strong second half lineup. And the showcase reveals from June have added several more dates to watch.

What are you most looking forward to, and is GTA 6 genuinely the biggest release in years or just the most hyped?

GTA 6 is legitimately the biggest release in years and the hype is proportionate. The gap since GTA 5 is extraordinary and the trailer footage suggests Rockstar have actually done something ambitious rather than just iterating

Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol 2 is the one I am personally most excited about. Having Snake Eater on modern hardware with current performance is something I have wanted for years

Star Wars Zero Company is interesting because it is an original story rather than a tie-in. If IO Interactive can do for the Star Wars universe what they did for Hitman the results could be something genuinely different

The Switch 2 second half lineup is being underreported. The console launched well and the software support is building properly. Monopoly Star Wars is not the headline but the hardware has proven itself

Project Hail Mary as a game adaptation is the thing I did not know I wanted until I saw it announced. The source material is perfectly suited to a certain kind of game and if they get it right it could be something special
