Before Spider-Man Brand New Day shattered everything, the second Grand Theft Auto VI trailer was the biggest video launch in YouTube history with 455 million views in its debut 24 hours. The trailer confirmed the Vice City setting in full, showed Jason and Lucia as the dual protagonists, and gave the first extended look at the world Rockstar has spent years building.

GTA VI still has no confirmed release date beyond 2025 on console which has already slipped. Whenever it arrives it will be the biggest entertainment release in history. The trailer alone suggests it might be worth the wait.

The Vice City recreated in this trailer is extraordinary. The environmental detail in 30 seconds of footage is greater than entire open worlds in other games

StuckOnDestiny

455 million views then Spider-Man came along and made it look modest. GTA VI is going to have to actually release at some point

Aisha

Jason and Lucia as dual protagonists is the correct evolution of GTA storytelling. The gender dynamics of running from the law together have real narrative potential

Lazy Sentinel

The no confirmed release date beyond 2025 console situation is getting uncomfortable. This game has been the most anticipated release for four years

Lucy_35

Rockstar has the luxury of knowing this will sell regardless of when it releases. That luxury might be what is keeping it in the oven longer than necessary

Zach

The world building visible in the trailer is doing things technically that no other open world game has achieved. Whatever they are cooking it is significant

Drifter

The original GTA VI trailer breaking records and then the second breaking new records and then Spider-Man breaking those records is a perfect arc of internet culture this year
It's not a bug, it's a feature

Wizard

Every frame of this trailer has been analysed to death and there is still new stuff being found. The community engagement is extraordinary
