Not every gaming session needs to be high stakes or intensely focused. Sometimes you want something that runs at its own pace and does not punish you for not paying full attention. The cozy game genre has expanded enormously in recent years.

What do you play when you want that experience, and is there a cozy game you think deserves more attention than it gets?

Stardew Valley remains the benchmark and I still return to new farms periodically. The game does not need anything added to it and that is a rare achievement
Normal is overrated

Solarpunk launched this month and is scratching the cozy crafting itch in a setting I find more interesting than the usual medieval or pastoral fantasy

No Man's Sky in base-building mode. The survival elements can be turned down significantly and the exploration and construction loop is genuinely relaxing

A Short Hike is the most I have recommended any game in the last few years. If you have not played it, it takes about an hour and a half and leaves you feeling inexplicably happy
