Public threads are public, but that does not settle the question of AI training and mass scraping. A search engine indexing a thread and an AI company absorbing years of user discussion into a model can feel very different to members. Forums need to decide whether visibility, consent, server load, and community trust matter enough to set clearer rules for crawlers

Blocking all bots can hurt discoverability, but letting everything scrape freely feels wrong too

The consent issue matters. People wrote forum posts for a community, not necessarily for model training
