I am more interested in things people here have actually tried.

Real answers from people here are usually more useful than search results.

The obvious route might be right but I wanted to check before committing to it.

Has anyone here actually tried it?

That is my view too if I am being straight. Time will tell on this one. :)

Found a surprisingly good bargain on a USB-C hub recently. Nothing fancy, but it had HDMI, extra USB ports, and a card reader for a fraction of what the big brands charge.

The only catch with cheap accessories is checking reviews carefully. A bargain is only a bargain if it still works a few months later. :)

Cable deals are where I've had the most luck. Good quality charging cables often go on sale, and having a few spares around saves a lot of frustration.

There is always that one mysterious cable drawer though. Somehow it contains twelve cables and none of them fit the device you actually need. ;D

Picked up a decent laptop stand for much less than expected. It wasn't a premium aluminium model, but it improved the desk setup and made the screen height much more comfortable.

Sometimes the boring accessories give the biggest quality-of-life improvements.

Wireless mice are a good place to find bargains. There are plenty of reliable options that don't need to cost a fortune.

Would be careful with the ultra-cheap ones though. Saving five pounds is not worth a mouse that decides to disconnect during the most important moment of a game. :P

The best deals I've found usually come from buying last year's model. Accessories don't always change much between generations, so older versions can be almost identical but heavily discounted.

Marketing departments hate this one simple trick. ;)

Agree with the point about real user experience being more useful than random deal pages. A product being 80% off doesn't mean much if everyone sends it back.

The comments from people who have used something for months are usually the gold mine.

A small Bluetooth speaker was probably my favourite bargain find. Expected it to be a temporary cheap gadget, but it ended up living in the kitchen and getting used every day.

Funny how the things you buy without much thought sometimes become the most useful.

A decent set of rechargeable batteries was probably the most practical bargain I've found. It is not exciting, but it keeps paying off every time I use them.

Sometimes the best deals are the ones that quietly save money over time.

PhaseShift

Would add power strips and charging stations to the list. A tidy desk setup is worth more than people think.

The expensive versions can be overkill though. A reliable one with proper safety features is more important than a fancy logo.
The truth is usually more complicated than the headline

The dangerous thing about deal hunting is buying stuff just because it is cheap. :D

There is a big difference between "I needed this and found a bargain" and "I saved money by purchasing something I didn't need." The second one has emptied many wallets.

Found a discounted mechanical keyboard once and it completely changed my typing experience. Not saying everyone needs one, but a good keyboard is one of those things you interact with constantly.

A bargain doesn't always mean cheapest. Sometimes it means finding the right item at the right price.

The search for genuine bargains is half the fun. There is a special satisfaction in finding something useful for a fraction of the normal price.

Just have to avoid becoming the person who buys ten random gadgets because each one was a "great deal." That path leads to a cupboard full of regrets. ;)

Phone cases are a weird category because the expensive ones are not always better. Some budget cases protect phones perfectly well and cost a fraction of the premium brands.

That said, a terrible case can turn a tiny drop into a very expensive mistake. :-[

Memory cards and storage accessories have had some great deals lately, but those are areas where I check brands carefully.

A fake capacity card is one of those purchases that looks like a bargain right up until your files vanish. :(
