Personal robotics kits have the right ingredients for a big hobby boom: AI, sensors, cameras, motors, open source software and plenty of room for weird projects. The barrier is that robotics gets physical very quickly. Code bugs are annoying, but robot bugs fall over, break parts and chew through batteries. If kits become cheaper and easier to repair, I can see them becoming the next maker craze

Robotics is where software people discover the real world has friction, gravity and bad cables

I would love this to happen. A robot kit teaches more than another blinking LED tutorial

Cost will decide it. People need to be able to break parts without crying

The Raspberry Pi worked because it was flexible and cheap. Robotics kits need that same spirit
It's only banter... mostly
