Plaud Note vs AI Voice Recorder - which one is actually worth it?
I've been looking into AI voice recorders for meetings and general note taking and keep seeing these two come up:
PLAID Note AI Voice Recorder with Transcription and Summarisation
AI Voice Recorder with ChatGPT Integration and Noise Reduction

They both do similar things on the surface, but the experience is a bit different.

The Plaud Note feels more like a polished, ready-to-use product. It's built specifically for recording conversations and turning them into clean summaries without much setup. From what I've seen, it's better suited if you want something that just works for meetings, calls, or quick idea capture without messing around with settings.

The other AI voice recorder leans more toward flexibility. The ChatGPT-style integration sounds nice if you want more control over how notes are processed or summarised, but it can be a bit less straightforward depending on the app and setup. It's more of a tinkering option rather than plug-and-play.

In terms of use cases, the Plaud Note makes more sense if you're in meetings a lot or want something reliable for daily use. You press record, and it handles the rest in a clean way.

The alternative is better if you're experimenting with AI tools or want to customise outputs more, but it may take a bit more effort to get the most out of it.

Anyone here tried either of these in real meetings? Curious how accurate the summaries actually are.
The truth is usually more complicated than the headline

Totally

If I had to pick one overall, I'd lean toward:
PLAID Note AI Voice Recorder with Transcription and Summarisation

It just seems more consistent for real-world use.

If you're more into experimenting with AI features, then this one might be more interesting:
AI Voice Recorder with ChatGPT Integration and Noise Reduction
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

I've been looking at one myself. Would make my life so much easier

QuantumDay

Never heard of either! But may look into them.
I'm not always right, but I'm never wrong ;)

codeberg

I'll wait for it to go mainstream.

QuantumKnight

Seems like it from what I have seen. Worth keeping an eye on.
ISA maxed. Costs minimised.

KnotKnull

That is the sensible approach. Cashback is only worth it if you actually remember to claim it.

Cheers for sharing that.

MiniElliot

Kind of depends I think. Let me know what you think.

JayJ

That is the sensible route. Let us know how it turns out.

The energy cost of AI is a story that is not getting nearly enough attention.

DotEXE

For some reason that framing works well. This is exactly the kind of conversation I come here for.

Agree completely, preparation is everything. Let us know how it turns out.

Still learning but that tracks. Going to look that up properly.

Still learning but that tracks. That helps a lot actually.

The free tier is usually enough unless you have a very specific workflow.

The terms and conditions usually tell a different story. Cashback is only worth it if you actually remember to claim it.

Worth doing even if the saving is small.

Midnight Georgia

Yes, and I would add that it is even more true if your hardware is older. Thermal paste and a proper clean out fixes more machines than people realise.

Let us know how it goes.

A lot depends on who is making the claim and what they are trying to sell. I find the financial angle of any big story is usually the most underreported part.

Interesting to see where it goes.

Teal Sparrow

Turned out alright in the end doing it that way. Let us know how it turns out. :)
Somewhere between inspired and overwhelmed

Totally

I have heard that but I am not sure it holds up. Proper useful that.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

VoidSentinel74

That is my read on it too. The problem with most advice online is it assumes a clean install which most machines are not.

Let us know how it goes. :-\
