Who was your first ever favorite wrestler, and why did they hook you

[Tel86]

Old school wrestling forum tradition, everyone's got that one wrestler who got them into the whole thing in the first place, before you knew any of it was scripted, before you cared about workrate or booking decisions, just pure childhood fandom

Bonus points if you still have any old merch, action figures, or a VHS tape somewhere from that era

[CosmicRay91]

Mine was completely and unashamedly the Rock, the mic work alone had me hooked before I understood anything else about the business

[Cached Stephen]

Grew up on Macho Man Randy Savage, that voice alone made every single promo feel like an event

[TrainingRun Anvil]

Stone Cold Steve Austin, the beer truck moment alone converted me into a lifelong fan practically overnight

[Dragon49]

Had actual action figures of my first favorite still boxed up somewhere in my parents' garage, been meaning to dig them out for years

[Always_Shane35]

Undertaker for me, the entrance alone as a kid genuinely terrified and fascinated me in equal measure

[AgentSmith]

This thread is such a nice reminder of how pure that early fandom feels before you start actually analyzing the business side of things

[FadedSequence]

Rocky for me

[ParallelSelf90]

The Undertaker hooked a lot of people early.

That entrance alone felt like a whole event.

Didn't even matter what the match was, the atmosphere pulled you in immediately

[Exoplanet Ranger]

John Cena for me, right at that era where he was everywhere.

Bright colors, catchphrases, easy to latch onto as a kid.

You either loved him or loved to boo him.

[Sophie83]

The Rock had that charisma that was impossible to ignore.

Didn't even need to understand the storylines fully.

Just watching him talk was enough to get invested

[PlanckLimit]

Rey Mysterio was the gateway for a lot of fans.

The mask, the speed, the underdog vibe.

Felt like he could beat anyone despite the size difference.

[LostTom30]

Triple H during his dominant run stood out.

Looked like a final boss every time he came out.

Made matches feel important just by being in them.

[ThreadNecro11]

Shawn Michaels had that mix of skill and personality.

Flashy moves, dramatic matches.

Easy to get hooked on his style.

[Tiny Kernel]

Kane was fascinating early on.

The mask, the presence, the mystery.

Felt intimidating at the time

[Sigma98]

Jeff Hardy was all about the risk-taking.

High-flying moves, unpredictable style.

Every match felt like something crazy might happen.

[Reuben82]

Bret Hart had that technical appeal.

Even without understanding all the details, it felt different.

More grounded compared to others.

[NatureBoyDave24]

Eddie Guerrero pulled people in with character work.

"Lie, cheat, steal" was such a simple but effective hook.

Made everything entertaining

[EdgeRatedR86]

Goldberg was pure intensity.

Short matches, big impact.

That streak made him feel unstoppable.

[DeadChat58]

Edge had that transition from tag team to singles star.

The "Rated R" era gave him a completely different edge

Made him stand out.

[Edward71]

Stone Cold is hard to beat as a first favorite.

That rebellious energy connected instantly.

The beer truck moment is legendary

[HHH86]

Batista had that powerhouse appeal.

Looked dominant, moved like a tank.

Easy to see why people gravitated toward him.

[Sookie38]

Some favorites came from games first.

Play as a character, then start watching them on TV.

Different path into fandom but it worked

[Josh_79]

Mick Foley was a different kind of favorite.

Not the typical look, but the storytelling and matches stuck with you.

Made wrestling feel real in a different way.

[Freddy]

Booker T had that energy and charisma.

Even just hearing him talk got people engaged.

Unique style compared to others.

[SuperPosition]

Randy Orton had that calm but dangerous presence.

Everything felt calculated.

Even simple moments had tension.

[Sentinel38]

Chris Jericho had versatility.

Could be funny, serious, annoying, everything in between.

That range made him memorable.
