Some promos are so good that they become more famous than the matches they were meant to sell. But there is a special category of promo that never led anywhere at all. Plans changed, someone got injured, contracts expired or the feud was simply dropped. Those promos live on in clips and memories, teasing matches that never happened

CM Punk's pipe bomb did lead to a match, but plenty of brilliant promos did not. There are teases for dream matches that were planned but scrapped, and cryptic vignettes that never paid off. Some wrestlers cut incredible promos while injured, setting up returns that changed direction completely. Others delivered great segments with stars from other promotions who never wrestled each other

These moments show how much of wrestling is about anticipation. A great promo can make a match feel enormous before it even happens. When the match never comes, that anticipation stays frozen in time. Unfinished stories can be more memorable than finished ones

Which promo comes to mind for you? Explain what it was setting up and why it never happened, if you know

Bonus points for obscure examples that most people have forgotten
