Women's wrestling has produced its own set of transformative, era defining stars, and the debate over who actually stands as the greatest of all time tends to centre on three names who each changed the division in a genuinely different way. Trish Stratus became a seven time WWE Women's Champion during the 2000s, widely credited with helping elevate the women's division from its earlier, more objectified presentation into something taken far more seriously as an actual athletic competition, a shift that helped pave the way for the far more prominent women's division the promotion has today.

Chyna carved out an entirely unique lane for herself, becoming the first woman to ever enter the men's Royal Rumble and King of the Ring tournament, and the only woman to ever hold the men's Intercontinental Championship, doing so as a genuinely dominant, credible physical presence within DX during the height of the Attitude Era rather than being confined to a separate women's division altogether.

Charlotte Flair, meanwhile, has built the most statistically dominant resume of the three, becoming a multiple time women's champion across her career and headlining the very first women's main event in WrestleMania history alongside Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch, a milestone moment that reflected just how far the division had come since Stratus and Chyna's own respective eras.

Stratus's role in legitimising the division, Chyna's unique crossover into the men's division, or Charlotte's sheer championship dominance and historic milestones. Which one gets the nod as the greatest women's wrestler ever?

Chyna doing what she did purely because there was not yet a proper women's division built around her specific kind of talent shows a completely different, arguably harder kind of trailblazing than either of the other two had to do.

Charlotte having Ric Flair as her father genuinely does give her an unfair advantage in name recognition terms that the other two never had, even though her in ring work clearly stands on its own regardless of that connection.

Chyna competing directly against men and holding a genuinely credible men's title reign is such a unique historical footnote that I do not think it can be fairly compared to either Stratus or Charlotte's more conventional championship runs.

Stratus's transition from a valet role into becoming one of the most respected in ring performers of her entire era deserves more credit in these conversations than it usually gets, that is a genuinely difficult reinvention to pull off successfully

I think this argument genuinely depends on whether you weight cultural impact and trailblazing more heavily than championship volume, because all three have a completely legitimate case depending on which of those you actually prioritise

Charlotte's resume is just statistically bigger than the other two by a wide margin at this point, and headlining that first women's WrestleMania main event alone is a milestone neither Stratus nor Chyna ever got the chance to be part of

Stratus gets my vote because she was directly responsible for changing the perception of what a women's match could actually be, and everything Charlotte later benefited from in terms of serious in ring presentation traces back to that shift
