Roman Reigns has explained why he no longer works non televised house shows. POST Wrestling's Jack Wannan reports that the World Heavyweight Champion discussed it on the Club Shay Shay podcast. His explanation is a fascinating look at how WWE's business has changed

Reigns said that between 2012 and 2018 he worked 150 to 200 shows a year. Now, WWE's business depends on television rights money from its Monday and Friday shows and its Premium Live Events. He said it makes no sense to risk an injury in front of 4,000 or 5,000 fans when so much money depends on the televised shows

He said he has to conserve himself, while still calling those big event matches critical. It is a very business minded way of looking at a wrestling career, and it reflects how much WWE has changed since its touring heavy days

POST notes that Reigns has wrestled fewer than 15 times a year since 2023 and has not had a non televised match in more than three years. He has wrestled seven times in 2026. All but one were on Premium Live Events, with the exception being a Raw match against Penta in Mexico City. His most recent match was a 26 minute title defence against LA Knight at Money in the Bank

Some fans miss the days when champions worked every show, but Reigns's approach has kept him healthy and made his appearances feel special. A limited schedule has helped make him one of the biggest draws in modern wrestling. It is hard to argue with the results

Should top champions still work house shows? And does a limited schedule make Reigns's matches feel more special?

Works on my machine :D
