YOH retained the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship against Britain's Robbie X in a 25 minute main event at Korakuen Hall on Wednesday, POST Wrestling reports. YOH countered a top rope X-Express and got a near fall with superkicks. He then caught a Spanish Fly with a superkick and won with a Rainmaker Knee into a Direct Drive. It was YOH's third defence since beating DOUKI for the title at Dominion

Robbie X has been one of the UK's top high flyers for years, so getting a junior title shot in Korakuen Hall is a big moment for him. Korakuen is one of wrestling's most famous venues, with a small, passionate crowd that rewards hard work. A 25 minute match there against the champion is the kind of performance that builds a reputation in Japan

After the match, Robbie Eagles challenged YOH. YOH initially said no, explaining that it "didn't seem right to face one Robbie after beating another." Eagles responded by locking on a submission and holding it until YOH agreed. The match is set for King of Pro-Wrestling at Ryogoku Sumo Hall on 12 October, though it is for the KOPW title rather than YOH's junior belt. Eagles briefly held the junior title in 2021

Also on the show, AEW's MJF challenged Ryohei Oiwa to a future match, and Vietnam's Ares made his NJPW debut in a tag match alongside Yota Tsuji. The crossover between AEW and NJPW continues to throw up interesting possibilities. MJF in Japan would be a fascinating culture clash

How did Robbie X do on the big stage? And would you want to see MJF wrestle in New Japan?
